Title
Fixed mindset  and Growth mindset

Introduction
Let me ask you an easy question. How many muscles can you name in the human body? Did you think of a leg muscles like the calf? Or did you think of the muscles in the arm like the biceps? Did any of you think of the brain? Ok, it’s not really a muscle but it behaves like one!

Would you like your brain to keep growing and getting stronger every day just like other muscles when you exercise? But how are you going to do that? By turning your fixed mindset brain into a growth mindset brain that's how. With growth mindset you can do anything, because you won’t just say I give up when things get tough.

Have you ever said I can’t do this! I give up! It's too hard! I can't do maths! I am a bad speller! That's fixed mindset. A fixed mindset stops your brain from growing everyday because you never believe in yourself. A fixed mindset stops you from trying things that are challenging, it makes you give up and a fixed mindset stops you from saying I will learn from my friends. You can't learn or grow with fixed mindset.

But how do you change your fixed mindset into a growth mindset? How does that help you to learn? Did you know….. That making mistakes is okay. You maybe wondering why is okay to make mistake? It is actually very good for your brain as it grows whenever you make a single mistake. If you give effort to anything, you brain makes new connections. These connection are called synapses. They are how we learn new things. The more mistakes, the more connections you make and the stronger your brain becomes. Some people think that whenever they make mistakes they are not good at learning and they can never succeed in it if they make mistakes. But this is not true. It's a fixed mindset.

Some students believe that they are already intelligent and have talents which are excellent. It's good to think positively however they say that they don’t need to learn anymore in that subject because they already know it very well. This is another type of a fixed mindset. Thinking like this will not grow your brain. Let me give you an example. What if when you grow up go to the college and the teacher asks you a question about the subject you have always been very good at but you stopped trying to get better? You won't know the answer and the other students will. It’s because they didn’t stop themselves from learning more, they have a growth mindset, that's why they know the answer. Won't you be embarrassed that you were really good at it and now you didn't know a single answer that the other students did. It’s because you have a fixed mindset brain and they have a growth mindset brain.

Having a growth mindset means you will start to understand the importance of learning by making mistakes and keeping on trying even when it gets tough. Also it helps you in many things throughout life. Thomas Edison explained growth mindset perfectly when he said “I haven't failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” And now we have electric light in our homes. Wouldn't you like your brain getting stronger and growing everyday? It's time to change you mindset!
