Title
Fixed mindset and Growth mindset
Introduction
Let me ask you an easy question. How many muscles can you name in the human body? Did you think of a leg muscles like the calf? Or did you think of the muscles in the arm like the biceps? Did any of you think of the brain? Ok, it’s not really a muscle but it behaves like one!
Would you like your brain to keep growing and getting stronger every day just like other muscles when you exercise? But how are you going to do that? By turning your fixed mindset brain into a growth mindset brain that's how. With growth mindset you can do anything, because you won’t just say I give up when things get tough.
Have you ever said I can’t do this! I give up! It's too hard! I can't do maths! I am a bad speller! That's fixed mindset. A fixed mindset stops your brain from growing everyday because you never believe in yourself. A fixed mindset stops you from trying things that are challenging, it makes you give up and a fixed mindset stops you from saying I will learn from my friends. You can't learn or grow with fixed mindset.
But how do you change your fixed mindset into a growth mindset? How does that help you to learn? Did you know….. That making mistakes is okay. You maybe wondering why is okay to make mistake? It is actually very good for your brain as it grows whenever you make a single mistake. If you give effort to anything, you brain makes new connections. These connection are called synapses. They are how we learn new things. The more mistakes, the more connections you make and the stronger your brain becomes. Some people think that whenever they make mistakes they are not good at learning and they can never succeed in it if they make mistakes. But this is not true. It's a fixed mindset.
Some students believe that they are already intelligent and have talents which are excellent. It's good to think positively however they say that they don’t need to learn anymore in that subject because they already know it very well. This is another type of a fixed mindset. Thinking like this will not grow your brain. Let me give you an example. What if when you grow up go to the college and the teacher asks you a question about the subject you have always been very good at but you stopped trying to get better? You won't know the answer and the other students will. It’s because they didn’t stop themselves from learning more, they have a growth mindset, that's why they know the answer. Won't you be embarrassed that you were really good at it and now you didn't know a single answer that the other students did. It’s because you have a fixed mindset brain and they have a growth mindset brain.
Having a growth mindset means you will start to understand the importance of learning by making mistakes and keeping on trying even when it gets tough. Also it helps you in many things throughout life. Thomas Edison explained growth mindset perfectly when he said “I haven't failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” And now we have electric light in our homes. Wouldn't you like your brain getting stronger and growing everyday? It's time to change you mindset!

Remember to use faction not opinions.
Gorillas
Gorillas are animals found in the mountains of Africa but they act a lot like humans. They are one of the earth's wonderful animals and we should all protect them together.
Where do Gorilla live?
Gorillas are animals that mainly live in forests in Western Africa such as Rwanda. They live in places 10,000 feet up in the mountains where it’s cloudy and misty. They also move around a lot to find places where it is easy to find food because gorillas get really hungry.
Gorillas can live up to 35-50 years. Gorillas travel in packs called “troops.”
What do Gorillas look like?
The gorillas are huge, with large, big chests and shoulders. They have long arms and short legs. They use their long arms to “knuckle walk”. (This means they walk on all 4 limbs using their knuckles) Gorillas also have strong muscles.
Most people think Gorilla’s are black but they are mostly covered in brown hair. Gorillas from different areas have different kinds of hair colour. For example the western gorillas have light hair colour and the mountain gorillas have dark hair colour. When male gorillas turn older their hair turns white on the back they are called the silver back.
The scientists say that the DNA of Gorillas is 95-99% like humans. They are our closest living relatives in the animal kingdom.
What do Gorillas eat?
Gorillas are mostly herbivores which means they like to eat plants like bamboo, wild celery, bananas and sometimes they might eat insects especially ants. Gorillas get really hungry so they need lots of food. A fully grown male gorilla can eat around 20 kgs of food in a day. WOW! Thats a lot.
How big do gorillas get?
The males gorillas grow to around 6 feet tall (1.80cms) and weigh around 180kgs. The females gorillas grow to 4.5 feet tall and weigh around 90kgs.
Newborn gorillas weigh only about 2kgs at birth. Female gorillas carefully care and protect their young baby gorillas. Baby gorillas learn to crawl at about 2 months and can walk before they are 9 months old ( much earlier than human babies.)
Did you know….
Gorilla's only enemies are humans and leopards.
Gorillas have learnt human sign language to communicate with humans.
Gorillas are an endangered species and the Ebola virus has killed many. There are only 700 mountain gorillas and 300 western gorillas let in the wild.
Gorillas are one of the earth's most splendid animals. They have fun, they play and they groom one another. They are very shy and gentle but can harm humans if they are threatened. I think we can protect these marvelous, splendid species and make sure that people in the future can see them in the wild. What do you think?

Story Web: Beauty and the beast
Here is a Story Web I made.
Story Web: Beauty and the Beast
Title: Beauty and the Beast
Author: Emma
Settings: Castle
Characters: Beast, Beauty, the Six daughters ,the birds and the merchant.
Beginning: Once upon a time there lived a merchant he had six daughters, the youngest of them all was beautiful her name was Belle. One day he had to go to a town far away he asked for his what shall I bring for you when I come back the five eldest asked for jewellery and pretty clothes but Belle merely asked for a red rose.
Middle: When he was lost in thought he took a wrong turn. Darkness fell and a storm blew up. Then , quit unexpectedly he came to a place where the sun was shining . He walked a little and then saw a beautiful garden. As he walked some more his eyes fell to a beautiful red rose just as Belle has asked for. As he picked the rose a growling voice said, “ who said you could trash my garden?!.” the merchant replied.
“I was just picking a rose for my daughter.” Said the Beast. “If that is so then you may live , if only your daughter comes here and lives in the castle with me. If she doesn't I will come to your house and kill you. The beast said.
End: The merchant went home and told the story to his daughters. I will go and live with him. Belle said. And so she went to the beast gave her comforting room. She was walking around the garden and talking to the birds she said you are so gentle how can you live with this ugly rough beast? The birds replied. He is ugly but his heart is kind. Belle either did not understand, or did not believe these tweets, and she badly missed her home. One day beast asked belle will you marry me. Belle said no as you are so ugly. Belle if you are so kind will you let me go home for one week. The Beast thought and said, “You may go. But if you do not return after one week, something dreadful will happen.”
After some days Belle felt something strange she thought does she miss the beast. She went back to the castle. And found him lying on the ground cold, and sick. You came back. The beast said.
Of course I did, Belle said. And she kissed him in an instant he turned into a handsome prince. And they were wed the same day.
Evaluation: This story tells you that you can't judge someone by their ugliness. I rate it 10/10.

My poem from last year.
Day in spring
Birds back in full cry,
Early morning, light sky.
Up at seven, nil breeze,
Shorts and sandals, bare knees.
Green shoots, budding flowers,
Pollen drifting, whizzing mowers.
Lunchtime showers, wind groans.
Grab a parka, hailstones.
Sixty knots, heavy seas.
Gales twisting stiff trees.
Blossom biffed about the path,
Just a moment! Storm’s passed.
Sun’s back, heat too,
Tonight we’ll try the barbecue.
Daylight saving, cold but light,
What’s next, frostbite?

It’s difficult to get outside
And settle down to play
When the weather's throwing tantrums
Through the long spring day.
